Names
The names are pulled from various UFO contactee/religion related people and/or concepts. Any other references are either related to death/spirituality or are completely arbitrary. Enjoy!
Character | Name Origin |
---|---|
M. Leigh West/Marian Leigh West | M. Leigh's name is inspired by Majel Barrett (Majel Leigh or M. Leigh). However, Marian is taken from the psuedonym given to Dorothy Martin from the book When Prophecy Fails. Additionally, M. Leigh's name is meant to be a parallel to LRH. |
Jonathan Benjamin Wilkinson Jr./The Entity/T.E. | The format of Ben's name is a play on Marshall Applewhite's name. The use of Jonathan originated from John of the Cross. This was specifically chosen because of his connection with St. Teresa of Avila, who was his mentor. The name Benjamin is more of less a result of mangling the birth-name of the Public Universal Friend. The surname "Wilkinson" also is derived from PUF. And finally, the name "T.E." is an extremely convoluted way to mirror "Ti". |
MICHAEL/Tomás Soto Cruz | MICHAEL, or Made In Christ's Holy Almighty Eternal Love, took inspiration from the use of Unarius as an acronym ("UNniversal ARticulate Interdimensional Understanding of Science"). His real name is also a pun (Tom Cruise). Soto originates from the actor, Hugo Soto, from the film Man Facing Southeast.> |
Shelly West | Shelly West is a fake name that Bonnie Nettles used in hospitals near her death. |
Charles and Lillian Armstrong | I just mixed the psuedonyms and the real names used in When Prophecy Fails for Dr. Laughead and his wife. |
Gloria Angela Hill, Gerald Marcus Hill, and assorted relatives | The surname Hill is taken from Betty and Barney Hill. Gloria's name originates from contactee, Gloria Lee. Gloria's relatives all have names that originate from incidents that bear similiarity or are associated with Gloria Lee's death. Gloria's son and sister, (Jerry and Laverne respectively), were taken from the names of two people involved in an tragedy where they spent a month waiting for a flying saucer to appear. The name Marcus originated from the contactee Charles Boyd Gentzel and the group Mark-Age. The group claimed to have direct connection to Gloria Lee before and after her death. |
Jean and Carlos Mundo | Shelly's aunt's name is taken from the contactee Laura Mundo. I thought it was neat and decided to use it. I am unsure where the Jean aspect of the name originated from. Carlos is more or less just my attempt to reverse engineer a name that would sound good with the surname Mundo. Probably the least amount of thought used for names so far. |
Joseph Bradford Walker | The source of this name arbitrarily comes from the Kommissar X series. My motivation for using the name Joe Walker was primarily because of this song. I gave Joe the middle name 'Bradford' as a tribute to Brad Harris, one of the actors in the Kommissar X films. |
Maria Teresa Wilkinson | Maria is based off of Tuesday Weld, specifically from the film Play It As It Lays (1972). Her name is taken directly as a reference to the role/character in the book. It is also pronounced the same way ("Mariah"). Her middle name is taken from Teresa of Avila. And as stated before, Wilkinson originates from the Public Universal Friend. |
